The Gränby ice rink is located only 600 metres from Arenahotellet and has three rinks for ice hockey and figure skating. The facility is the home rink for the ice hockey club Almtuna IS, as well as the figure skating clubs Uppsala Skridskoklubb and Uppsala Allmänna Konståkningsklubb. Both division A and youth teams practice and compete here. The facility is disability accessible. There is also a kiosk that is open in conjunction with a number of events. The rink is run by Uppsala Municipality.
Rink A is the oldest in the facility, built in 1974, and used for both practices and games for the division A and youth teams. The rink was renovated after Almtuna IS qualified in Allsvenskan season 2001/02. The renovations included new seating, concrete stands and a new ceiling. The stadium has a seating capacity of 2,800.
Rinks B and C are primarily used for youth leagues, both for practices and matches. They each have two smaller standing sections. Rink B holds up to about 350 people and rink C about 250.
Occasionally there are odd times during the ice skating season in rinks B and C that can be booked by businesses, clubs and schools. All three rinks follow the same schedule during the six months of the summer season when they can be booked for ice-free events.
With its quiet location, Arenahotellet is the natural choice for overnight stays for events at the Gränby ice rink, whether you are watching a game, coming with a club, a business or you yourself are the athlete or accompanying relative. Everything you need is close by – ICA Heidemstams torg, Willys and the Gränby shopping centre are located within a 20-minute walk from the hotel, not to mention the lunch restaurant Arenaköket, located in IFU Stadium. When you need to unwind, don’t forget the relaxation centre on the 8th floor of the hotel, with a fantastic view over Uppsala.
Outside of the rink, there are plenty of paid parking spaces, as well as bus and disability-accessible parking and 500 bike spaces. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Arenahotellet from the central station by bike. Additionally, Arenahotellet has 26 parking spaces, four of which are disability accessible. There are also seven charging stations for electric cars.
To get to here by bus from the central station, take bus 3 towards Östra Nyby and get off at the Lagerlöfsgatan bus stop which drops off directly outside of Gränbyhallen.
